I’m NOT a bike rider, but if you are then biking is a great way to see the city! Many hotels offer free bike rentals during your stay, but also Savannah is the first city in Georgia to offer a bicycle-sharing program that allows you to rent bikes stationed all over the city!īest Places to Stay in Savannah GA Perry Lane hotel Of course ride-sharing apps and traditional taxis are always an option to get around Savannah! The only times we used Uber/Lyft was to and from the airport (which is about a 20-minute drive) and then back to the hotel from dinner one night because it was late and we were tired.Īlso worth noting, some hotels offer a complimentary car service to drive/pick you up from destinations within a certain distance from the hotel. Not only are these a great way to get around the city (especially if you’re visiting Savannah during the summer), but you’ll learn something too! Both companies offer an unlimited Hop On/Off option with frequent and convenient stops around the city. Old Town Trolley Tours has provided sightseeing tours while the conductors narrate highlighting the best attractions in Savannah for over 30 years! And Old Savannah Tours brings Savannah’s history to life with their uniquely personal descriptions of Savannah’s history and historical re-enactors! I also never felt unsafe walking around the historical district during the day or night during our trip! The only area that you’ll encounter a change in elevation is by the Riverfront where you’ll have to descend a steep set of stairs or driveway to get to River St. And remember, Savannah has an Open Container Policy so you can grab a drink at one of Savannah’s MANY bars and get lost in the streets of this charming city!Īlso worth noting, Savannah is relatively flat so you don’t have to worry about climbing any hills. Exploring the historic district which is just about 3 miles large and exploring the city at our leisure this way made the more sense!Īlso Savannah is FILLED with the most charming squares, streets, shops and restaurants and the best way to see them all is to wander. Walking is the easiest and best way to get around this pedestrian friendly city! You’re more than likely going to spend a majority of your trip, if not your entire trip. After dinner we headed to the airport to catch our 8pm flight back to NY! I love that they offer a late flight to JFK because we truly got a full 3 day itinerary in Savannah, GA without having to pay for 3 nights in a hotel. ![]()
